Crystal Basket Chandelier –

This amazing chandelier was just recently completed in February 2016.

It needed full rewiring, cleaning, crystal repairs and major repinning work. Initial steps required full electrical restoration, removal of old cracked fabric-based wiring, new sockets and fixture grounding. Repaired a broken ‘hanging bobesche (cup)’, using a shaped crystal sleeve to naturally blend into the fixture, while hiding the broken neck segment.

Doug and Jackie were very pleased – the results far exceeded their expectations.  As many crystal spears had previously hung irregularly and used poor pinning materials, Doug requested full Crystal Hanging and Repinning Services to complete the restoration of their heirloom lighting fixture.

To address broken pinning and heavy soiling in the crystal basket, it was fully disassembled, scrubbed clean and rehung. Repinning of over 150 connections was required, and resetting dozens of pinning points. At the upper ‘accent row’ new seating loops were created to hang 2-inch spear crystals. The remaining 75 dangling ‘spear-crystal’ sets were sized, hung and levelled.

The resulting visual effect is truly stunning and beautiful.

Carved Onyx Torchiere –

Joe brought in an torchiere floor lamp with ornate Onyx carving accents for full rewiring and restoration. Additionally, a custom base night-light was requested. An LED bulb would be used for efficiency and to provide sufficient illumination through the onyx base stone.
During restoration, full disassembly, cleaning, repairs and wiring for all five sockets was performed. The Onyx carving was carefully cleaned, and then polished with a gentle beeswax finish to return a satin sheen to the surface.
The results are a stunning center piece, showcase and discussion starter lamp, gracing vibrant living spaces in the home.

Copper Lantern Fixture –

Turning a special object into a beautiful lighting fixture is a special highlight for me. This particular blackened copper lantern was bought at a bazaar in Egypt; the owner envisioned it as a swag lamp hanging in their foyer. What a great idea!
Add new chains and matching canopy; build a socket mount for two bulbs (enabled for ease of replacement); create swag chain with wiring & plug and voila… an amazing lantern fixture is born!

Silver Dome Chandelier –

This unique and valuable silver dome chandelier was owned by a CEO who loved the beautiful light but found one of the three lighting arms had failed. Not aware of it’s significant value, the owner wasn’t sure it could be fixed.
This fixture was a distinct pleasure to restore!
It was extremely well made: silver plated brass with a glass dome. Three ornate ‘rams head’ chain holders suspend the silver dome ring, housing three candelabra light arms.

8-Arm Brass Chandelier –

This large 8-arm solid brass fixture had such unique geometric shaping that Laura’s kitchen was being modelled around this lighting fixture. Full rewiring initially appeared straight-forward; closer inspection however, revealed extensive water damage. Possible and Practical to Restore? YES!
This beautifully constructed fixture of high quality brass, plus patience and skill, made it possible to clean, polish, rewire and fully restore this amazing chandelier.

The Blisters around the wiring compartment, joints and socket arms indicated serious problems within – major water damage. As seen in the photos, all was restored.

Illuminated Headboard –

This is the second of a pair of vintage illuminated headboards I restored for Laura’s children. Restoration involved completely removing the hazardous asbestos insulated wiring embedded into the headboard body, sealing the cleaned wood, and rewiring with new sockets and switches.
A protective, removable heat-plate was also fashioned for each of the 2-lamp headboards. Sockets supported medium-base, low-wattage (15-25Watt) bulbs.

Porcelain and Brass Chandelier –

Joe and Maria simply loved this fixture the moment they saw it in an antique store. It needed rewiring, tightening, new candle covers and crystals, but it was stunningly beautiful, a rare find.
A full restoration process of disassembly with detailed photo’s of each step and special cleaning for the gold leaf ceramic accents and body.
A separate appointment addressed crystal selection: With some suggestions and several options, Joe and Maria  identified pleasing prism shapes to accent the fixture, highlight the elegant arms, and sparkle with dancing lights as you pass by.
